GREAT BARRINGTON, MA: According to a new report by the American Institute for Economic Research (AIER), Gainesville is ranked among the best metropolitan college destinations in cities with populations between 250,000 to 1 million residents.
Factors taken into account include research capacity, degree attainment, arts and leisure, creative class share, cost of living, earning potential, entrepreneurial activity, and brain gain or drain.
Steven Cunningham, director of research and education for AIER, said “a top AIER College Destinations Index ranking should be just as important to the town or city as it is to the schools located there and the families and students attending or considering them.”
The only other city in Florida to make the list was Tallahassee, home to Florida State University and Florida A&M University, at number ten.
