SAN JUAN, PR:  Dr. Joseph Hartman, Professor and Chair of Industrial and Systems Engineering, won the Fred C. Crane Distinguished Service Award from the Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE).  The award was presented at the 2013 Honors and Awards Banquet at the Annual Conference of IIE, held in San Juan, Puerto Rico on Monday, May 20.  The award “recognizes an individual’s long and arduous service contributions to the Institute of Industrial Engineers,” according to IIE.  Hartman has served on the IIE Board of Trustees as well as eight years as Editor of The Engineering Economist, a joint publication of IIE and the American Society of Engineering Education, among other duties for IIE.
