Previously, he was an Associate Professor in the Risk Management and Insurance Department at Georgia State University, an Assistant Professor in the Mathematics Department at the University of Miami, and a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Swiss Finance Institute at EPFL. His main field of research is on quantitative finance, financial technology, systemic risk, complex networks, stochastic systems, and machine learning. He is particularly interested in structural models for systemic risk, using networks to represent various types of interrelations among financial institutions. He is the current editor of the <em>Journal of Accounting Literature<\/em>. He is also interested in improving governance in transitional democracies.
